This problem has recently surfaced on my Blu Ray player. Whenever I try to play a Blu Ray the laser makes a series of grinding noises as each portion of video is loaded. Warnings about piracy, trailers, main menu etc. all produce a grinding noise. Playback is fine, but the grinding is worrying, the laser will definitely go at some point with noises like that coming from it.
